Sun Rim 700c Just failed???

what exactly do you mean by buckle? did the rim go out of true, or is
there some kind of distortion in the material? are you really sure it
happened so quickly?

venuses are kind of weird rims. they're lighter than al rims as deep
as them tend to be. i believe the extrusion thickness of the walls of
their "V" is thinner than normal.

It definately happend quick. It is an actual distortion. I wish it was
just out of true. They say it is not repairable.

Yeah it is. Sun rim: $35 + labor to re-rim, maybe $30-40.

How old is the rim?

The sidewall wears away a little each time you use the brakes and will
eventually (years and 1000's of km later) fail with the sidewall of the
rim being puched outwards by the presure of the tyre.

Run a finger across the sidewall on the rim and I'm willing to bet it's
got a ) shape to it.

Is the distortion kind of like a shallow dent located somewhere
directly above a spoke?

U r right Joel. That is exactly what it feels like. The rim is 9 years
old. Bike has had litte use though. Thanks for comments guys.
