Summer Fruits Arrival?

Cherries have another several weeks before their season hits
its stride. Peaches won't be fully ripe for another couple
months, same thing for plums and nectarines.

Watermelons should be good now, though.

I haven't even seen local rhubarb yet, and it is usually in
its prime at this time of year. I have been looking forward
to a fresh rhubarb pie.

I've had great peaches and nectarines so far, from my local
Safeway. Bought a couple pounds of cherries in Chinatown the
other day for 59 cents a pound - and they were fabulous -
juicy & sweet! And a real bargain, considering that Safeway
was selling them for $4.99/lb.

We have been seeing cherries and apricots here in southern
California. I haven't been to the farmers market this week,
so I don't know if any of the other stone fruits have
started to appear.

Depends where you are. I've got no less than 1000 peaches
right now, fully ripe and dropping.

I spoke too soon, or perhaps my prayers were answered. My
wife just came home with a bunch of rhubarb. It is too late
to make a pie for dessert tonight, but I will do it first
thing in the morning. Thank goodness rhubarb is available
almost a month before strawberries. That helps to prevent
the heathens that try to tone down the rhubarb with
strawberries.

Thanks for the replies, I'll be checking out the fruit
stands this week and possibly one of the asian supermarkets.

I went to the Santa Monica farmer's market today, and there
were quite a few stone fruits. Peaches, plums, apricots,
nectarines, cherries. The peaches weren't that good yet, and
the apricots weren't the best either. The Blenheims haven't
arrived yet... ;(
