Summer bike tour

Well, if you weren't such a wimp I'd suggest something along the BRP or the Shenandoah Valley.

Also, I've had an interest in doing the C&O to Washington From Pittsburgh (Linking up vis some of
the PA rail trails) but much of that's not paved.

My wife has Rheumatoid Arthritis and is limited in her riding. As for myself, I did a 30.5 mile 4.5
hour training RUN this morning. If I get time, I wouild like to do YOUR wimpy Mountains of Misery
100 miler by foot this summer. ;-). (Not in 1 day though).

BTW, if you do decide to do the C&O sometime, drop me a line, it's something I've looked forward to
doing. I have a Strada, but my tank-like EZ-1 might be more suited to the terrain.

Sorry, You did not say that you were looking for a ride for someone other than your self. In that
case, you probably need to find a 'flatlander' ride. Just be grateful that you have a wife that can
ride and participate with you on a bike. Mine can't, so I am always looking for a solo ride or a
partner that my wife will approve.

The C&O is on my list. Also so is the BRP. I think a Strada with S- licks might do just fine.

I put 8 miles on my son's Strada on the Skyline Drive last Saturday. Even with a 12-27 and a 30T
granny, I think it is a decent climber.

I took the Le Petite Tour last June run by Velo tours of Montreal. It was three days with camping at
High Schools in Quebec. It averaged 35-38 miles per day for three days. They provide the meals and
carry your bags and tents in a truck. It was a really nice experience, albeit a bit lonely because I
don't speak French. It cost about $150 US. I'm probably going to do it again next year. They also
offer Le Grand Tour which is about ten days (too long for me).

Uh? Last time I looked, Ohio was in the Mid-West not the Mid-Atlantic.

I recommend that you check out the series of trails from Cumberland, MD to Pittsburgh. I rode about
2/3rds of this last summer and it is very nice. Incredible scenery. You could even plan an off day
for a side trip to Fallingwater. The ride to Pittsburgh and back to Cumberland is 115-120 miles each
way. The only issue would be rain since the path is unpaved. I rode it on a rainy day and it was
easily ridable but the limestone surface kicked up an incredible amount of gunk on my bike. The
trail is not yet completed but should be nearly done by next summer.
