Suggest? Wild camp near Great Gable?

Try high up Gatherstone Beck on the Wasdale side of Black Sail Pass.
There's a few good spots right next to the Beck, it's a bit cold in the
mornings as it's in the shadow of Kirk Fell and so doesn't get any early
mornng sun. Only about 3km from Great Gable.
No creepy crawlies when I was there...

Well it's Styhead Tarn in't? Where else?
Might be a bit crowded though!

For more P&Q but still close you could go for Sprinkling.

I wouldn't try the North West of the Gables or Brandreth Way.
Don't know about Gable Beck.

Aaron Slack is a steep slog but has my strong affections. My
introductory MLTB course took me up there with full kit. We were
told at the bottom that we wouldn't stop until the col - at which we
all laughed rather hollowly. But the leader set a slow pace and when we
reached Windy Gap he asked if we now wanted our stop. We looked round
at each other and rather surprised at ourselves said, 'No, not really'.
He was a good teacher.

Hmm.... I'll keep looking around.

I read recently that there were some good spots on Lingmell, but I've
not spent much time up there. Perhaps it's worth a look.

I'd be impressed if anyone managed to wander off that path, even in the
mist.

How about the top of Green Gable - and give the early arrivals a bit of a
shock? Could be rather exposed, though ;-) Or the hanging valley at the
top of Sour Milk Gill from Seathwaite ?

On my ML we camped on the col between Gables and Kirk. It was a good high
camp. It's a watershed and therefore you can get water from streamlets very
easily. Can't vouch for the absence of beasties though.

Eskdale side, there is a nice flat spot, next to a spring. It must be
reasonably well sheltered, 'cos it was blowing a blizzard when we woke up in
the morning, and I don't remember it being particularly wild until we started
moving.

I have camped here and it would be my first choice for that area. Last time
I stopped here there was a really big storm over Irish sea and you could see
everything (lighting was unreal).
