Until you said "good temperature control," I was going to suggest my own method -- the cheapest
possible model that can be replaced every 2 or so years for under US$30. Mine might last longer if I
kept them indoors, but they live on the porch to keep from heating up the house in summer. Not for
baking, but toasting, browning, and other non-precise cooking chores.

I have a Toastmaster. I bought it for around $50 from Target a year or two ago. The same model is
still available. Its the model that has a teflon coated interior that slides out for easy cleaning.
I use my toaster oven all the time and it works well for me.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind when we go shopping. I'll also know to avoid Black & Decker, but I've

I had GE and B&Ds for about 25 years but the last two I bought were junk--gave out in less than a
year. The switches and thermostats were very cheap and unreliable.

I have had a DeLonghi for just over a year and it is going strong.

LOML bought me a GE Toaster Oven/Broiler for Christmas. I like it very much. I've used it almost
daily. Some of the things I've done in it: Cheese toast, regular toast, PopTarts, baked a frozen pot
pie and a couple frozen pizzas, broiled pork chops, baked a chicken, and browned the meringue on a
couple of pies. I like it for its ease of use, timer (though it doesn't go high enough for long
cooking times), and temperature range. It lets me bake or brown or toast without heating up my oven.
He paid about $40 for it. I had asked for one that was actually a tabletop oven with rotisserie, but
he bought the rotisserie separately. I'm glad now he did.

I am really enjoying my new General Electric toaster oven. It is GE Model #168947 (Countertop Oven
w/ Rotisserie.) It fits on a countertop, but is maybe too tall to fit well under wall-hanging
cupboards which might be over a countertop. This model can be configured to have two shelves, making
it possible to bake two six muffin trays at one time (switching upper and lower positions half-way
through, to equalize the heat differences, top to bottom shelves.) It toasts and broils and has
temperature range and controls which are fully adequate for me. The best part was that it is
commonly available and is stocked at most Wal-Mart stores. I paid $45.00 for mine. I use it
constantly and it looks good on my countertop, too! ;-)

If you're willing to shell out some bucks and get a great appliance in return, look at the Cuisinart
TOB-165 and TOB-175 convection toaster ovens

They can be had for less than $150 these days

I love my DeLonghi toaster oven. It has been in daily use for at least 8 years and may be a few
years older. DeLonghi products have always been very reliable for me.

After years of buying GE toaster ovens - which seemed to have a 5 year lifetime, I went for an
expensive brand. It was killed by kids who decided to heat their tortillas on the rack. After that,
I gave up on toaster ovens. I use a real toaster and a regular oven now.

I have a Delonghi I purchased 10 years ago when the brand first came to the US....The unit works
well, but the finish that was put on it sucks.....very hard outside surface to clean...I'm sure the
newer models have an easier to clean outside finish...overall it works well.
