  1. We are retiring soon and I have an expensive habit I need
to break, solve, manage or slit my throat.

I quit smoking over four years ago but I will be the first to admit I
    have a problem.

I have been to counselors, acupunturist and even my lung doctor.
The only thing I did not get around to with the counselor was
    hypnosis.

I am truthful with myself and believe that I am very anxiety driven
person due to a terrible childhood and I have worked out the childhood
however I feel like I am perhaps a dry alcholoic and need this gum to
vent my anxiety. I AM on Paxil and O2 24/7. I am addicted to Equate
nicorette. I know I am addicted because I cry after doing without for
    a hour or so.....

IS THERE SOMETHING I COULD USE THAT IS CHEAP or make my own?

It really soothes me and helps to deal with reality.

  2. Why not abstain ?

I was powerless over nicotine and my life had become unmaneagable.

Nicotine Anonymous worked for me as I am a hopeless nicotine addict. I am
Nine years free of nicotine in all forms this coming summer. The obsession
    has been broken.

    http://www.nicotine-anonymous.org/

I tapered off slowly using the nicotine patch. The meetings allowed me to
work thru the issues that were the cause of my addiction. They understand
    us where no-one else does
Good luck and feel free to e-mail me if I can help.

You could probably make your own for a fraction of the price by
    extracting
tobacco, and mixing the extract with some bulk gum that you have melted
    down.
