What about just covering the logos with black electrical tape. Cheaper, easier, and reversible 🙂.

err, why strip the paint?

Just remove anything you don't want paint splatter on, the do a sloppy
painting job in your favourite colour {:-).

Worked for me for a few decades .

Messy, time consuming job. I'd never do it again. You're better off taking
the frame to a panel beater and getting it stripped.

If you do decide to do it yourself, DO NOT use caustic soda based paint
stripper. It will eat into the aluminium...

Aye, that's what a lot of the Sydney couriers do, it's weird
to see a bike that looks like a [censored] beater, but then has
some fantastically nice components (e.g. hydraulic v-brakes)
when you look a bit closer.

Wanted to strip it because I liked the effect of the bare aluminium that I
once saw.
I thought the tape would be a bit obvious and weighty.

Know of any panel beaters that will do it cheaply?

for thieves.

Heck, while we're all making displays of spontaneous magnanimity I'll
join in with an offer of my own. If Bongo wants to swap his bike for
my old Repco I'd be happy to pay shipping on both and you can almost
guarantee that no thief is going to want to nick it.

Mind you, its got some decent Alex rims on it and brand new tires with
slime tube liners. If I sold the wheels on eBay I could get a couple
of hundred for them I think, but if I sold the whole bike with the
wheels attached I'd probably get $100. I'll leave it as an exercise to
the reader to estimate the market value of the frame and groupset...
