I don't know how I did it, but I have stripped out the threads on my crank for one of the inner chain ring bolts. It seems to be an M8 x .8 thread, and I can't find a thread repair for that. Am I wrong about the thread size? Any suggestions? TIA

I am confused because I dont there shouldn't be any threads on the crank itself except for pedal attachment. The chainrings are usually held in place by a bolt and a ring shaped nut which are the only other threaded parts.

Do u mean the thread inside the bottom bracket axle? Im not sure if there is a solution for this. maybe a new bottom bracket?

No, I'm talking about the thread in the drive side crank spider on a triple crank where the chain ring bolts hold the small chain ring to the crank arm. There are five of them and one stripped out.

Im not sure how these work, or whether u will be able to find a suitable one but i have heard of a product called a heli-coil (spelling?) that is somthing like a spring that u insert into where the thread once was and it basically does the job of the thread. Hopefully u can speak to a tool maker or machinist or somebody who can help u with this. If not then i dont think there would be a huge amount of stress on the granny ring if u just wanted to run it with 4 bolts, just means u run the risk of folding the chainring under extreme pressure.
