Streetmap.co.uk seems to have improved its relationship with the OS - it's no longer necessary to choose specific zoom levels to see OS map views (the + and - buttons now show them again) and some placename searches (small town names) return an OS map as the initial view.
Best of all, the 'link to this map' link will again go to the OS zoom level, even with 5x5 squares - e.g.

Yippee! Now I can go back and put links to the maps on my site (when I get a round tuit) perhaps teh OS have relaxed the licence because the mapping is getting out of date.

Marginally scary <g>. I think my car is recorded on one of the higher resolution images (caught in a queue of traffic behind a vehicle towing a caravan).

I have put the free version on my machine, not on broadband and it still works. Is there a way of improving the resolution though? I have the whole of Edinburgh and surrounds, Pentlands and half the Forth on the screen to see anything impressive. Any closer and detail just is not there. Does one have to subscribe to see the detail?

The west of the city and part of the Pentlands is very good resolution, the rest, including the centre is quite poor.
