street

I'm decent at street. i'm now working on a trick where I jump onto a
ledge, take one foot of the pedal and keep it up there for how ever
long. Without 1 foot idling.

PS-When i grind i do it on the cranks. Seems to work.

Forgive me for asking but you guys do street on 24" wow i do it on 20"
oh well works for me cause I'm kinda small dude.

I think the majority of people who do street use a 20 inch wheel but
there are a few who use a bigger wheel

look at, he has no style. So one important thing to be a really good
street rider is got to have your own style make up new tricks, if there
smal doesen't matter only if it looks cool and are nice. So be creative.

going big isn't a bonus it's just as important as having style and being
tech, it's just that some people lean more towards one aspect of riding
than the other

Street is my favorite type of riding. I can grind, but i havn't hit a
rail yet. I'm pretty sure i have the hight to grind rails but all the
rails around my way have kinks so I am hesitant to grind them

Do you guys think I should just cowboy up, strap my trusty helmet on and
go for a rail?

go for it. The first rail I landed was a 3 stair with a kink. Took about
10 tries. it is intimidating at first, but after you get the first
attempt out of the way you'll realize how tame handrails really are.

I've finally got the balls to do it but I just can't get it. I either
jump over it, miss it (beside) or don't make the height. I hit one
really low one, but not much luck after that. My rolling hop is about
26". Is that high enough?

sounds to me like you are getting scared. Or you are trying to hit the
rail too high up. If you jump out further where the rail drops down a
little, it should be easier. Also, ride faster. When you are grinding a
handrail, you are being pushed foreward at the pedal. You want to rely
on momentum more than gravity.

when I find myself missing, I try to start expecting success on the
approach. That usually helps.

hey, if youre asking if 26" is enough, it definitely is. my hop is
about 24" and theres not one handrail that ive seen that i wouldnt be
able to get up to. you really have to jump out farther and rely on
momentum like onetrack said. as for the style and what not, i think that
going big and having technical moves are both askpects of riding street,
and by combining the two however you want, you get your own style.

a street comp would be awesome, but youd need a really good spot for it
that has stairs, ledges and rails everywhere. i dunno, street is still
in its most developing stage i think, getting more and more riders and
more and more tricks all the time. itll be huge in a while, and comps
will be held for sure.

when you guys hop, do you take ur seat out to get more height with the
wheel? and how thick is ur tire, i think mine's 1.5 or something, so i
have to put my seat down quite a bit so i can bend my legs before i jump
to get ne height, and i still can't get very high, perhaps practice?, i
can't jump that high usually ne ways

you can have a street comp on a skate park, theres legde and what you
want to have.. or you can bulid a street comp, like skaters do.. rails,
ledge, curbs and that.

Yeah that skatepark looks good for the uni. Maybe if it was a little bit
smaller than it would be prefect. Does that 1 exist?

whats wrong with the size of it? the ledges could be a bit bigger
though.

i noticed everything is square, not that it matters but. cool anyways.

my idea of a street comp would have all the contenders... (when we get
some) pitch in for a minibus (entry fee) and drive around the city to
(found and known to be good) places that have a few good objects to ride
on. possibly make each place a round of the comp, and get the other
unicyclists to judge on which trick was the gnarliest of the place. and
at the end they all judge on who did the best total.

people know what they like to see. and because they unicycle they know
how hard the [censored] is.

if you can get a place like that plaza though, you wouldnt need a
minibus or different places... its all there

that whole minibus idea would be crazy awesome. except youd have to deal
with the whole legal issues of the spots you pick, and getting kicked
out and stuff. and once you get too many people in the comp, then youd
have to wait like 9 years for every turn. that skateplaza is being built
right now in kettering, ohio. DC shoes is sponsoring it. hopefully a
few more will start showing up in north america (edit🙂 and in
australia, and around the world haha
