Almost two months ago I ran in a 5K race in Seattle called The Shore Run. The brochure said prized would be awared to the top three finishers without any mention of age group. Well I finished 26th of 1102 overall, but first in my age group, 50-54. Lo and behold, a few days ago I received a prize in the mail and I can't figure out what it is. I'll try to describe it and maybe someone can tell me what it is.
First of all, there is a pair of them. They are about 5.5 inches square. Two pieces of material sewn together stuffed with padding. Made of a synthetic fabric similar to what you might find in a backpack. Along opposite edges and opposite sides is a velcro strip such that if you fasten the two strips from one piece together you form a cylinder about an inch or two across. You might be able to wrap them around a cross bar on a bicycle. The logo of the race is printed on one side while a clear plastic business card holder is on the other side. So.... What are these things called, and what are they used for?

I think it's called a thingamajig. Maybe if you cut them open, you might find something hidden in them?
But seriously, I have no idea. I can't even visualize it but seems like something to hold stuff in ...
Why don't you call/email the organizers to find out?
Just a guess. Sounds like they could be gizmos that wrap around the handles of a gym bag to keep them from flopping around, with the added capability to hold some form of ID. If that isn't it, I haven't a clue.

-- Quality is a function of design, materials, and craftsmanship. Inspection can only confirm quality or reveal definciencies. In no case, can quality be inspected into anything.
I agree with Wayne's idea. Sorta of an upscale luggage tag, when you insert a business card.

I can tell you exactly what it is: It's the cheapest thing they could find that they could call a "prize".

I went to the web site of the supplier and they had thousands of different items. 332 were in the category of bag accessory, and only 10 items will display per page.
