I'm still trying to consolidate all kinds of things in preparation for
my move. I have a LOT of DaVinci syrup bottles, having stocked up at
places like Marshall's and Ross. It occurred to me that I could pour
some of the bottles of the same flavor into an empty gallon-size plastic
water bottle and save some space that way. Do you know if there's some
reason I should NOT do this? Do they HAVE to be stored in glass
    bottles?

  2. No, I have gotten some that they put in plastic bottles. They may be
putting them all in plastic now, I haven't ordered any in a long time. It
would make sense for shipping, lighter and less breakage.

  3. The DaVinci Syrups I buy in Canada are in plastic bottles, not glass.

Unless you sterilized the jugs, you could contaminate the syrups
for long storage that way. Even unopened gallons of spring water
turn lovely colors when left in a warm garage as an experiment for
    a few months.

Good point. I figured out that 4 bottles of DaVinci take up about the
same amount of space that a gallon jug would, so there's really no point
    in trying it.
