I'm a fairly amateur runner. I probably run 10 miles a week. Recently
I've been having a problem with a pain developing in my mid abdomen
after about 15 minutes of running. It feels like stomach acid, kind of
a burning sensation. It subsides when I stop running. I haven't
altered my diet at all, so I can't think of why this is happening.
Would taking antacids be a good idea? Any other suggestions?

Would taking antacids be a good idea? Any other suggestions?A possibility is acid-reflux. I would especially suspect this if the pain
moves up towards the chest. For some people treatment is as simple as not
eating ½ to 1 hour before running. There are also OTC meds that work for
some individuals. And, of course, it wouldn't hurt to see your physician. -

If the pain is from acid reflux you may have a low acid problem. I
had pain like that for years and took various OTC antacids that only
temporarily relieved the problem.
Finally went to a nutritionist who put me on digestive enzymes. The
nutritionist told me I had low stomach acid which meant that food was
not properly decomposing in my stomach and causing acid reflux. I
thought she was crazy, but tried it and it work. Also allowed me to
loose weight and increase my running performance.Phil.
