    Not so much for swimming, but it is a very effective way to strengthen legs and butt. I've been
    using them for several years, and at age 53, my legs are stronger than they have ever been, even as
    a young man.

    You'd probably find working with a band more effective. Steppers really only strengthen the larger
    muscles used in walking (as well as your aerobic capacity, which will help but not your legs), and
    altho there is some crossover, you probably want to work the swim motion more directly, engaging
    your abs and back as well.
