Geez ... was Lance pumped, or what! I've never seen such an emphatic fist
pump thing from a rider crossing the line. He had adrenaline to spare.
I didn't get to watch all of the stage today, but I got the sense that
Postal was tactically brilliant ... as always.

Nice present for Lance.

Not.
I love it when Phil L. said everyone was on the small ring except Armstrong.
Armstrong is ready for the sprint. Balls, that man is strong! A hard
sprint on the big ring.
Maybe all you guys sprint on the big ring, but I'm an old man, 52, and I
seldom see the big chainring any more....

I recommend a compact crank, then....

Well, maybe it wasn't tactical brilliance. Maybe it was relative to what
appeared to be some tactically stupid stuff by both CSC and T-Mobile.

Lance seems really confident, but just wait till he gets back to the
trailor, where SC will start working him over! There was a little clip of SC
with a [censored] eaten grin on her face. Lance was heading in her direction. When
you're getting it like that every night, how can you lose?

More a case of CSC & T-mobile beeing tactically very stupid!

Lance has stated in various places that he trains hard, as hard or
harder than anyone else, routinely doing 200 mile training rides.
Nice if I had the time to do half that each day, I sure would be on
the big ring climbing more often. Right now I'm turning little black
wheels at a desk, not quite as much fun or as good training for the
Dell or Canyon rides.

Very nice of Jan not to lie down and die, though he did make his
intentions clear in some interviews over the past few days, he was
looking forward to the Alps and evidently not just for the view.
Sure made the race thrilling for me. I wonder if Big Al woke up to
see what's happening or kept dreaming of himself at the plate, 2 outs,
bases loaded, down 3 runs in the bottom of the ninth, with two strikes
on him and pointing towards center field as lightning flashes in the
distance...

If you are still on the bike you aren't old... Irrespective of what your
birthday reads. There are 20 yr olds whose asses haven't seen the business
side of a road bike, climb, or headwind ever...
Plus I am 43 and need the inspiration from the likes of you 😉

Be like me. Clean your bike more often. I see the big ring every time
I clean it off. ;-)

They had a close-up of Lance's gear and he was on his 53x23 (or
similar), ready to downshift and sprint.
He was quoted as saying he was extra psyched at winning a sprint from
a small group.

(from the Alpe d'Huez)
I talked to Bob Roll after the finish in Nimes on Sunday, and this was
exactly what he predicted. He thought that Lance & Johan were holding
back for the Alps, and it sure looks like that now.
He also predicted that Lance will nail the victory down tomorrow here
at
Alpe d'Huez.
There really are a million folks here to watch tomorrow's time trial.
The roar of the crowd watching today's finish on the big projection TV
screen outside the bar where several of us who post to this group were
watching was amazing --- at least 5,000, probably more.
Vive le Tour de Lance! The Germans here hate to hear us say that.
They've been spending the past 2 nights painting Ullrich/T-Mobile
signs on the new asphalt, as if that was going to make Jan win. Hah!
