I am so pumped for Hincapie. It shows he has smarts when he went for the time bonus and got 2 sec.

As for Thor, dear God, that is one nasty paper cut and I hope he is going to be okay!

I don't know who saw it on EuroSport, but GH was apperantly asked (off camera) how it felt like being the time leader - and he replied something like "I've never been a leader before, I hope the team would show me how to do it". And the commentators talked about how modest he is, etc....

So, that's settles it? Big George to lead Discovery? M

I really like that choice- he's looking very good. I know it may change later on if Popy or Savo would show their strentgh.
Remind me how old is he? 32? 33? If he has a chance, this is it, no Basso, No JU...

I'm personally a big fan of Hincapie, but come on, "smarts"? It would have been discussed at the stage planning meeting - if the break comes back before the final spring points, go for them... It's a no brainer.

Don't get me wrong, I'm pumped too. So cool! And I don't think it would have been different with all riders present (not that they should be). Maybe Landis could have done it had he not come late to the start yesterday.

Looked to me Thor got sliced with a water bottle... there were a lot of people spraying water on the pack as they rode by... could have been a sharp bit of plastic or something.

Red blood on the yellow jersey was not a pretty combo.

I thought I saw a fan.. the kind that fold out.. looked like it was made of wood. Maybe not.. but in the slow mo that's what it looked like.

Velonews coverage says Hincapie's move was spontaneous, so I was wrong. Still, it's not rocket science. Great for George, either way.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for big George, but it's a bit premature to call him the leader after a short prolog and one flat stage. Wait until they hit the mountains. If he can perform like that when things start getting vertical, then he's the leader. And he might well do it.

Same here. I like GH, but I predicted in the hincapie for TdF thread he would have some good days and then peter out. I still think this will happen(although i will be pleasantly surprised if it doesn't). He has never had to perform at the top for 3 weeks day in day out... and it is a lot different to do well for a couple days vs. 3 weeks... I have a hard enough time on 3 day ominums :o

Clearly the peleton must be doped to the gills when the riders are getting so fast that when they hit a piece of foam it looks like they've been shot in the arm with an assault rifle. (this is a joke, for the sarcasm impaired)

I'm not predicting a podium for GH either, and I also am happy to be pleasantly surprised, but come on! He has performed at the top for 3 weeks day in day out for quite a number of years now. It's quite an effort to be a mountains domestique, which he has done for the last few years.
