I have a 1995 Raleigh M60 with the Shimano ALIVIO derailleurs and a 7-speed cassette. The brake/shift combo (it's a one piece deal) is the ST-MC12 model. The right hand (1-7 speed) shifter is broken. You can can move the shift lever without resistance.
My question(s): 1) Can these be repaired? I can't find any useful tech drawings. 2) If it can't really be fixed, can you still get ST-MC12s anywhere? 3) If I need to just bite the bullet and replace the ST-MC12 with a newer model, what model should I get? I'd like to avoid replacing or upgrading the cassette to 8 or 9 speeds because that would lead to other issues like hubs, derailleurs, chains, etc. I just want the shifter working and the left and right shifters to be a matched set (and maybe keep the repair cost under $75).

Any help or suggestions? Thank you.
1 - no 2 - if its the one im thinking it is no, you'll have to get something similar but it should cost around $40-50USD for the shifter, mabie even cheaper. 3 - whatever, depends what you wanna spend and what style you get

is everything else on the bike alright ?
Yeah, everything else on the bike is fine. Mechanically, fairly light wear. The paint job has taken the brunt of the wear. The whole bike needs a good cleaning and a tune-up.
OK. So if I can't repair the shifter and everything on the bike is OEM and set up for the ST-MC12, then what model brake/shifter combo or brake and shifter separate will work on the bike (and not require that other components be changed out)? Will an ST-MC32 work, for example? Is there an equivalency table I can use?😕
You mean like these..............hurry before they're gone, lol..................Holy [censored] on the old thread revival, lol. Wonder if OP still even has the same bike.
