SSBR - the four quid singlespeed

So I did. I used (brand snobs raise your hackles now):

- a 1994 Saracen Cr-Mo frame, with a same vintage RS Q21 fork.
- a pair of scarily worn old wheels (217/117 on LX), ex Binkie. Dart / Jones tyres.
- a drivetrain of LX cranks with 32T, a DX 16T sprocket, XT BB and a Suntour road mech from a
scrap 10spd I found by the side of the road
- a random shed corner derived finishing kit. Roost Bars, Coda Stem, Real Levers, XT cantis, DX
pedals.

I placed these parts in a prechilled shed for a couple of evenings, marinaded in Tea, Radio 2
and some nice homegrown. It looks very clean and tidy sans the transmission gubbins and is
quite light.

Total cost of bike buid: £4 for a tin of paint for the frame.

That's 10 SS bikes for the cost of one Singulator!

In our next exciting installment, I find out if the four quid singlespeed is [censored] or not!

Yes. It's not well known on this side of the pond, but the excellent "Manx Bobbies" was the direct
inspiration for "Hawaii Five-O"

The Jeffersons wasn't stolen, but was part of the most ridiculous collection of spinoffs ever. Watch

I can't go on... for a couple of reasons

1) There are way more that I forgot until I looked them up ("Gloria", etc.)

2) When talking about stolen-from-the-UK shows, the situation gets weird. "All In The Family" was an
adaptation of the UK show "Till Death Do Us Part". "Good Times", two generations removed from
"All In The Family", was stolen back by the UK as "The Fosters."

3) Things then get really stupid. Technically, there are crossover characters between these series
and E/R and "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" (in the last episode, George and Louise Jefferson buy the
Banks house).

Nice. I did something similar a few weeks ago, although I went for the upgrade on the forks, going
with '95 Judy DH's. Consequently, the whole project cost me about ten times what it cost to convert

Funny thing - the most expensive parts of my SS were the cables. The gear cables.
