how are they dumbfounded? just get some rigerous terrain, lay down a track and away you go, its just as much a race as anything else is

I kinda cheated. My SS is mostly for comuting, so I don't race it (got a 27sp hardtail for that), but a simlpe change of cog on the back & a swap of tires.
I'll post pix when I do.

I know its a heavy frame, but my old stumpjumper ridgid is about to lose some weight thanks to only one gear. There are no trails really near to where I live, so I need it for more of the urban stuff.

I love it when my friends on their hardtails and full suspension curse at me when I pass them on a climb.

its so much damn fun when you can beat geared bikes in a 12 or 24 hour race on a rigid single speed

I would like to try single speed but can't buy one.

...you can always convert your multi-speeder & then maybe go back if you don't like it.
