Sriracha vs. Tabasco

Sriracha is a bit too sweet for my taste. The original
Tabasco is just great stuff - peppers, vinegar, salt -
that's it.

They are very different so I don;t think it is a good
comparison. I would never put Tabasco on Vietnamese noodles
not would I put sriracha in a gumbo.

They are two different sauces for different applications, so
I can't pick one over the other. However, I like Marie
Sharp's habanero sauce for just about anything!

Ahhh Tabasco and eggs IMHO are inseparable, as well as in my
beans. I prefer Sambol Olec to Sriacha it's one of my fav's
for seafood. I use Sambol Olec in my BBQ sauce recipe for
part of the heat. Of course I have to have Franks & Tapito
in my cupboard. I can't eat Tacos without Tapito.

Hands down the Sriracha is more piquant, tangy and hotter.
It has a depth of flavor and texture Tabasco can't match.
However I find each has a place in different recipes or
applications. I love Tabasco on my eggs but find sriracha
makes a better seafood accompaniment.

Me too. I also useTexas Pete a lot but generally I have at
least 5 kinds of hot sauce on hand.

Well and true -

As for myself I'm with the other respondents - different
situations call for different hot sauces. Sriracha contains
garlic and sugar in addition to the peppers - I use it where
the vinegariness of tabasco would intrude, such as in a stir-
fry sauce.

Bufalo chipotle sauce is good too.

Try the Sriracha in your next Gumbo along with your
preferred sauce, you just may enjoy the subtle sweetness. I
personally use many pepper sauces( hot, mild) in dishes that
traditionally use specific brands with wonderful results.
