Are the sprockets in a nine speed cassette narrower than in the eight
speed or are the spacers just narrower. I like to mix and match
sprockets from different cassettes. I want to use sprockets from an 8
speed cassette in a 9 speed cassette.

in cog width [1], but it's such a small difference that a few cogs here

The spacers are definitely narrower.
