  1. I am considering moving away from Gatorade to another sport
drink. I'm thinking of going to something that might have
more minerals or some protein. I do IM distance events.

I'd like to hear other's experiences with other products, to
get passed te marketing BS. I'm not looking for "the best",
I figure te best is dependent on the individual.

    TIA,

    Mark

    I'm curious about this too......although I don't quite
understand the point of training with a specialized
nutrition product when you know they're only going to have
Gatorade on the course, esp on the run when you can't carry
a lot of stuff with you?

  3. Protein during exercise is probably not all that important--
at least at the distances you are talking about.

    Minerals, same thing.

Sodium and to a lesser degree potassium (electolytes) are a
    good thing.

Gatorade has a new product on the market (albeit not in all
areas) that is aimed more at "performance" athletes. It has
more sodium and is better formulated for exercise. "M

I've seen this. However, I've hesitated to use it in
training until they start providing it at aid stations.

Normally I would agree, but if you drink "classic" Gatorade
during some training and know how it treats you, then using
the new Gatorade to me would not be a problem. However, I
would not run a race featuring the new product without
trying it first. Anyway, during a race chances are that
whatever is served will be diluted greatly.
