The spokes are a bit rusty and I'd like to take care of that. (Cosmetic
    only, no deep damage.)

SOS soap pad or steel wool and dishsoap.

    ~ $1

    😉

    Bill,

Might want to save up. You know that if this guy is getting a set (2)
of wheels for $65 that he will be back here soon with more problems.
Then you can use a whole store of emoticons during that discussion :-)

Wonder what rims/hubs those $65 wheels use?

    -rick

    $65 each....

    Alex Rim R450 (Double Wall)
    Shimano 2200 hub

Not the best ever made by a long shot, but not TOTAL [censored]...

    Spokes:

    $18 for Spokes/$30 for labor: $48 total (EACH: F/R)

Wheels: $65 for wheels/$8 for labor: $73 total (EACH: F/R)

For not THAT much more, I could do wheels rather than spokes and have
new hubs and rims as well as the spokes.

    Get it???

    ;-)

    -Bob

Hint: :-P is a cute little smiley thing. The animation some see
with the little tongue poking out is CUTE, CLEVER, ADORABLE unless
    you're /really/ paranoid.

    :-p Sticking tongue out

Well there's the problem right there! You thought I was sticking my tongue
out, when in fact I was sticking out my tongue.

NB: I got your e-mails and replied; mine not getting through? (You were
gone a long time; maybe server's bouncing incoming mail now? Or I got
    filtered somehow? /Harrumph/ 🙂 )

From the OP: "I checked with my local shop and it's about $30 per wheel,
(plus the cost of the spokes), to have them replace the spokes. ... I'm
almost thinking I can get a new set of wheels for a bit more than that, and
to me that seems like a better value."

That's what led me to think you were expecting to buy two new wheels for
around 60 bucks. Big difference between that and $130 or so.

    Sigh.

<eg> (OK now that's a big bad mean one)

Sorni: I've e-mailed you thrice: once 8/13 and twice today. I've
    received nothing from you.

    One/both of us is/are having e-mail troubles....

    [sorry, folks....]

I got all three and replied to same. (Also sent you 4-5 things.)
Something's changed since your trip. (I sent you one or two things while
you were gone and DID receive your auto-reply, so my e-mails /were/ getting
    thru then.)

    Mine's working fine AFAICT.

    Aw, screw 'em 🙂

  9. PS: Neil, check your "spam folder" or trash bin or whatever. Maybe my
stuff is getting filtered/blocked? (I'm NOT getting bounce-backs like I do
    with John, BTW.)

    4. STEEL WOOL!!!

    Good: CHEAP!!
Bad: Not perfect, but an excellent suggestion!!

Would it be better to use a Scotchbrite or similar? Wire wool could
    lead to corrosion.

  11. I did not recognize your smiley as a smiley, either.

It would also help to put the smiley closer to the "joke".

    !!!! What a horrible response.

    What was?

Did you miss my little smiley thing?

Did you not get my POINT that, if this guy thinks he can get /replacement
    wheels/ (2) for a Bianchi for $50 or $60, then he's in for a rude

    awakening?

It was good-natured ribbing. Bikes are money pits (God love 'em). A bite

PS: Learn to quote, bryanska; it's really not that difficult.
