  1. Are people such morons that they cant measure half sugar and half
Splenda but instead must line the pockets of corporate greed squeezing
even more lifeblood out of the stupid masses?

Id be amazed, shocked and dismayed if this product lasted a year.

Hey. Peanut butter and jelly in the same jar has been available for 40
years. H.L. Mencken had it right " No one in this world, so far as I
know - and I have searched the records for years, and employed agents
to help me - has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence
of the great masses of the plain people."

  3. Yeah, it's a pretty stupid product. My first thought on hearing about it
was how do they get the sugar to stay mixed with the Splenda? Sugar is
much much heavier and would sink to the bottom of the box. I wouldn't be
confident that I was actually getting a 50/50 mixture.

Pardon my ignorance, but is this peanut butter and jam (fruit+sugar+pectin).
To an Australian this sounds like a bizarre combinartion.

But then again, Australians love black processed brewery biproducts.

  5. Yeah, but PB & J together has a different demographic than a baking product.
It is easier and less messy for young kids to make their own sandwiches,
while baking requires a bit more maturity in the consumer.

Yes. They're only partly mixed, too, so you can see the swirls of
peanut butter and the swirls of jam inside the glass jar.

You can also buy cinnamon toast blend - cinnamon and sugar mixed
    together, for the mixing-challenged population.

  7. Peanut Butter and Jelly are used to make traditional sandwiches in the US.
When sold together in a jar, they are not in a homogenous blend. The jars
have vertical wide layers so a knifeblade full has a some of each.

It's fruit juice+sugar+(sometimes) pectin. That's American jelly. Jam
    is fruit++.

Peanut butter and jelly is a stalwart sandwich filling here, highly
favored by children and unreconstructed adults. It's to be properly
done on commercial white bread (light, fluffy, flavorless).

I must say that my experience with vegemite fulfilled all the
requirements for trying a new thing and all the requirements for never
    eating it again. <g>

Many products are easy to make, but people enjoy the convenience of
buying them pre-packaged. I don't see where it's corporate greed to
provide a product that people can or cannot buy -- their choice.

What does intelligence have to do with it? I'm pretty sure that everyone
knows how to mix their own peanut butter and jelly. Obviously, they're
paying for the convenience, not because they're stupid.

Why are people so arrogant that they think they know how others should
    spend their money?

Good point. Of course, Splenda is made lighter on purpose, so it
measures the same as sugar. I wonder if this blend is made differently,
so that they have the same weight and texture.

Sorry, I guess I meant lazy.

Or what they wear, or how they think or what they should do with their
bodies, their chosen partners or any other myriad things. I guess people
    are just arrogant.

I dont really have a problem with how anyone spends their money but I
sure would look at ya funny if youre paying money for a perty bag and
some sugar mixed in with god knows what.

The problem I have is with the corporation making profit on our
laziness. Life, IMHO, shouldnt be so damn convenient. Idle hands and all
that. If we spent more time mixing our own damn peanut butter and jelly
and measuring out half sugar and half sweetened poison we might not have
time for all the arrogance you mention.

People paying for convenience on not doing something themselves!!
    SHock! Dismay!

Almost every food on the grocery shelves is marketed for CONVENIENCE.
I'm guessing you wouldn't do well in the Marketing Dept.

Also unlike the packet and powder Splenda that nearly everyone uses,
this product contains no Maltodextrin. Maltodextrin is carbs--it is
sometimes rated to have a HIGHER(150) glycemic load than pure
sugar(100). It is also blamed for part/all of the aftertaste. Only
with liquid splenda could you produce the same mix. I've only found
liquid splenda through mail order at about $0.65 per
cup-sugar-equivalent -- more expensive than sugar itself.

    I bought Splenda Blend on sale($1 off) with a coupon(another $1 off)
and paid about 25 cents more than I would on buying the sugar and the
    liquid splenda.

And what's so special about 50/50, anyway? When I used to bake, I would
take a recipe and start cutting sugar and fat in half with each batch,
until it wasn't good anymore, then backed up one step. Overall, I used
about 1/3 of the sugar and maybe 40% of the fat to get a good product.

Ahhh.. so this isn't a silly product post... this is an I hate Splenda
post. Gotcha. Everything else sounds like moral-posture wrapping.

The product has only two ingredients... Sugar and Sucralose.

The SPlenda people normally see (white powder) isn't splenda... its
all maltodextrin a starchy filler made from corn syrup. Splenda is
about 400(guess from memory) times sweeter than sugar so one packet
contains 1/400th of a teaspoon of sucralose(splenda) and all that
    white powder is filler.

The sucralose could be sprayed onto the sugar and absorbed. It is such
a tiny amount, wetness or clumping probably wouldn't occur.

What's a amazing is that although it's half Splenda and half cheap

    just Splenda.
