  1. Hi Folks I'm looking for ideas for a nutritious low carb
snack food as I do a lot of travelling - thinking of
wrapping salad i.e. tuna, chicken etc in Spirulina seaweed -
and preparing it 'sushi style' - checked the nutritional
analysis of spirulina and pretty amazed - loads of protein
etc.It seems pretty high in sodium which is a downside as
I'm on blood pressure meds. Am I on the right track or does
anyone have any ideas I can borrow? (trying to get away from
salads where you need cutlery etc)

My favorite snacks are pecans that are soaked overnight
in salt water and dehydrated for 12 or more hours.
Pecans are loaded with trace minerals, especially
magnesium, and are about 70% of calories from fat. I
eat them along with home made beef jerky for a
delicious snack or even a light meal that provides a
high quality balance of fat and protein that is very
similar to native american hunter gatherer diets. Do
not forget to include plenty of fat in any low-carb
protein snack or meal as it is very important.

Thanks for the info - am particularly looking for an
    alternative to bread
i.e. seaweed is the only thing I can think of - to wrap
around food so it becomes like 'finger food' like sushi
    - without rice - so was thinking of seaweed.

    As can be seen from:

    sprouting.orgtaxonomy

...spirulina is a microscopic orginism - a type of bacterium
known as a cyanobacterium - and is not closely related to
    seaweeds or other plants.

As such, you can't wrap is around anything.

    A mis-classification, it appears.

Seaweed - according to the dictionary[*] refers to plants
that grow in the sea - and spirulina is a type of bacterium
    - and is not a plant at all.
