Speed Play Pedals? Help!

Most road shoes have the -2- hole design incorperated into them. It's the hole pattern for SPD. road or off road. I think Time and Eggbeater use the -2- hole as well. The style of shoe is pretty much a secondary consideration after that, so yes I think you can use a road shoe.

From the Frog's FAQ section of Speedplay's website:

Q: Can I mount frog cleats on road-style shoes?

A: New Frog II cleats are designed to be mounted on road-style shoes. Older version Frog cleats cannot be mounted on road-style shoes.

I had problems with x2's so I replaced them wit hthe frogs. I needed to be able to walk around. but as soon as I bought the frogs I found the problem with the x2's (G)
if you want to be able to walk the frogs are better. if you get them dirty the frogs are better.

Thats why I was looking into them. I like the thought of being able to walk around....etc. Good to know. Do they feel the same as the x/2's when riding??

I have frogs on both my bike and trike and am able to use either road or mtn bike shoes, although I wouldn't do too much walking in the road shoes. Yhe pedals are great; lots of float, light and work well.

no real difference. the only thing is with the frogs they have a stop to keep you from turning your heels inward very much. I liked that becasue my feet tend to turn heel in too much.
