Specialized vs Selle Italia?

No one can answer that. Saddle comfort is not something that can be generalized. It's solely a function of your physiology and how your bumcakes get on with the saddle.

A lot of bike stores will allow you to buy a saddle and return it for another--several times, if necessary--if a given saddle doesn't work for you.

+1 for Alienator's reply. The Selle Italia SLR works well for my ischial tuberosities, but it may not work well for your's!

Yup. All depends on which one fits your butt better. Find a bike shop that will allow you to return the saddles until you find the one that fits you!

No two butts are alike thus saddle recommendation is sketchy. One rule of thumb is you get what you pay for. If you do anything besides tool around the hood for 20 miles, you'll want a tight, hard saddle.

Everything said above is quite true in regard to it being a 'personal' thing.

That being said, I was astounded that the Toupe Team saddle that came on my new bike wasn't more uncomfortable than it was, given how little padding it has. It's literally the first saddle I've ever owned that didn't give me at least occasional numbness issues, and I'm keeping it on my bike after all...
