I have just returned from my trip to ole Spain .. (hold back the cheers you lot) ..
Though I was a tad bit lazy and spent a large part of the day on the beach .. phew hard work but someone has to do it! I did get out with a borrowed bike and went on a rekki through the orange & lemon orchards .. the bike was a tad bit out of wack for my size so at first I felt like a circus clown tootling along .. soon got the old tools out for that.
Any .. waaaaaaaaaays .. wanted to know the polls for how people in other countries treat their cyclists! The Spaniards consider their national sport as .. yes .. CYCLING! Nobody played cat and mouse with me except for a few fancy fast cars driven by some pratts who still don't know how to drive a beamer! They waved, slowed down (didn't get my bum pinched though so I was a little choked) and were very generous with the roads .. I did not notice a lot of ladies out there so getting some cat calls was quite nice .. put a smile on this ole ladies face!

What part of Espana were you in ? My buddy is in Seville and we're doing the Etape together and he tells me it was 47c there today ! It was cooler in Limoges - only 38c !

Mate of mine was at the tri worlds recently and then went on through Europe (inc. Spain). Looks like a seriously nice place (except maybe for the bull fighting) with some lovely beaches.
Ah, Susan, you must have been a real treat for those Spaniards... With or without the mustache!
I'm off on a short holiday just south of the vendée region in France. I will report back on how they treat cyclists there... and you know that if I don't like the way someone's driving, I never hesitate to let them know.
Luckily, there's about a 3:1 ratio of cows to cars where I'm going.
I hear Spanish men are some of the hottest around... Do you confirm?
Ooops have I opened up a can of worms .. I don't play soccer, I ride for , it's a brilliant "activity" either way. I loved Spain and their courtesy and am thinking of coming back .. soon! I was in Rojales where my mum lives .. nice place and Guardamar for the beaches .. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! It was bloody hot some days but I dealt with it .. tough life but someone has to do it .. for all you out there!
The moustache has to go - leaves awful tan lines Velo man and I am not sure who has been looking at my .. palmares .. maybe that is what all the honking was about on those roads?!?!?!? Did you happen to take any overseas trips lately?
Actually lil sis, I think the Spaniards liked the moustache! No offence please ......... confirmed they are not bad looking actually but you should have seen the Portugese footie team in the airportooooo - well I nearly took off and followed them .. Yes, you will have to let me know about the Frenchie trip .. now you behave now! I've heard all about that "oooh, la, la" business ..
Next time I am taking my own bike cos my tushee took a beating with that old dudes sadle .. massage please!
The place to be for cycling in Spain is good old Pamplona - home town of Miguel Indurain. I spent 5 years living in the second capital of Navarra which is Tudela de Navarra. But Pamplona is the capital and they have the fiesta de San Fermin there every year. It's very mountainous around Pamplona so I guess Indurain had a real advantage being able to train in the area. But my own favourite place to wind down is Zaragoza - one of the cheapest cities in Spain where food is really inexpensive and the tapas second to none.

Have not been overseas lately. But I have cleared my diary, ensured my travel documents are up to date and packed the lilo waiting for an invitation. 🙂

Take your bike man .. I was on the e. coast araound Alicante, Guardamar, Rojales and I loved it. You will have a blast .. I want to go back .. NOW!

You lucky dog living there .. are you Spanish? I am looking into maybe living over there for a short while which sounds easier than done .. loved the area and my mum lives there .. I would definately bring my bike this next time!

1) no but soon hope to be 2) living is easy : paying for it somewhat harder 3) you can rent bikes here , see www.marcopolo-exp.es ( bring own saddle , pedals )
if you can avoid the tourists it´s a great place . 😄

You are British! I was so I am looking into my alternatives to work out there - probably hard - I will just work in a bike shop! I have to find out all this stuff .. do you love the biking? Maybe when I get over there again we will have to break out the wheels ..
