  1. I made Dreamfields spaghetti again last night, but this time, I served it
with Carb Options Garden Style sauce. Before the meal, my BG was 108. I
forgot to test after one hour, because I was watching a movie. But after
two hours, my BG was still 108!

And I've gotta say, both the pasta and the sauce are very good. The
spaghetti tastes like spaghetti, and the sauce tastes like sauce. The
sauce was chunky. Lots of cubed tomatoes. Very easy for Crash to pick
them out. LOL! And I had less than 1/4 cup, while the 5 grams on the
label called a serving 1/2 cup. My sauce total was likely about 2 carbs.

We didn't have any lettuce on hand for a salad, but I would suggest a small
salad to go with this, because 3/4 cup of spaghetti is probably not enough
to make a lot of people feel full.

WalMart has linguini now. On payday, I'll be buying a box of that, and
    some clams. Yum!

Not trying to offend you here, at all, just genuinely curious. You don't
post your weight any more, and you seem to be posting often about low-carb
imitations of high-carb foods. Are you no longer trying to lose weight?
Are you now using low-carb just to stabilize your blood sugar? If you are,
no criticism from me, just want to know the context in which to put your
    advice.

It's a fair question. Since my first priority is blood sugar control,
that's what I'm posting. I figure that that's a way to be accountable for
how I'm handling my diabetes. I'm involved in the Challenges, so my
monthly loss will be posted there.

This morning, I weighed 213.5, which is down from my starting weight of
    227. If you'd like, I'll be happy to have Crash take some pictures.
There's a visible change to my gut. Just say the word. :-)

A week ago, we had a weekend-long party called a cook-in, where everyone
either brings food or prepares it in the hosts' home. That definitely had
an impact on my weight loss. I'm happy to report, though, that I weigh
less now than I did before the cook-in. I don't think I'll make my 5 pound
goal in the Challenge, but I think I'm doing well, considering the food
    orgy I just participated in.

Lynne A. was there, too, and we both did a pretty good job of choosing
low-carb foods. It's just the sheer volume of food that's laid out. You'd
be amazed. We had 10 people, and there was enough food to feed at least 25
    people!

The low-carb leftovers are in the refrigerator or the freezer. The
high-carb stuff is in the garbage, which will be picked up tomorrow.

Thanks so much, Jenny! I'm trying really hard to keep the numbers low and
stable. The weight loss is secondary, but important. The more weight I
lose, the better the diabetes will be controllable. I appreciate your
    comment!

Actually, when I first started reading this group, I thought the
low-carbers were a bunch of kooks. I was just looking for low-carb recipes
to control my blood sugars. After reading for a couple weeks, I saw that
low-carb made sense. So, here I am.

I go to the one in Albert Lea. There isn't a Dreamfields section, their
stuff is interspersed throughout the other pasta. Look for the black boxes
that cost $2.12 per pound! I hope you find it!

  12. Keep up the good work!

I've just completed my second day without taking Glucophage (after 2
weeks of cutting the dosage in half) and my blood sugar numbers are
excellent thanks to the low carbs. Of course losing 25 pounds since the
end of April probably helped as well. Also have cut my blood pressure
medication in half. It does pay off!

I know its lower carb and all. I am not sure why, but it just triggers cravings
for me. Its one of them foods I have to stay away from. Its one of them
"forbidden" foods for me. Though I would just love to have a little. Maybe on
the next splurge, when I decide to.. I will try it then. And just be careful.

Our bithdays are coming up soon..🙂
Day after tomorrow. Whats your plans?
My sons are taking me to Ruby Tuesdays. I havn't been there in quite awhile.
Thought about going out alone for a couple drinks later in the evening also.

Have a nice, big salad first. Lettuce, marinated artichoke hearts, olives,
cubed or shredded cheese, pepperoni or salami. Fill up on that, and THEN
have the pasta. You get 3/4 cup. If you put it into a small bowl (like
for cereal), it'll fill the bowl, and you won't feel like you're missing
    out.

We're celebrating on the day before and the day after my actual birthday.
Archon (Michael Nielsen) is coming for an afternoon visit tomorrow, so
that's when we'll have cake. I made a normal chocolate cake without
frosting, and we'll top it with unsweetened whipped cream. Additional
(small) pieces can be wrapped and frozen for future use (mostly by Crash).

Thursday evening, Crash plans to set off a bunch of fireworks in my honor.

Friday, we're going to a local bistro-type restaurant that serves prime rib
on Fridays and Saturdays, at a very reasonable price. I bought a dress at
the Salvation Army thrift store earlier this week. It's a sleeveless
number with a matching short sleeved jacket, which hides a multitude of
sins. <G> I'm just concerned that it's just above the knee. I've been
out of the outside world for so long, I don't know if that's a fashion
mistake or not. {shrug} I'm wearing it anyway.

I don't think we have a Ruby Tuesdays anywhere near here, but from reading
the group, it sounds like you'll have a lovely dinner. Please let us know
    how it goes, okay?

Hemlines can be pretty much anywhere now, it just depends on your age and
shape and what looks best on you. Just above the knee looks good on almost
everyone, imo, depending on the cut. If it looks good on you, wear it.
