  1. Over Christmas i have put on a few pounds with some eating the wrong foods and exercising a bit less.

The weight will go soon enough as i get back on the bike and get into my 100 miles per week regime.

I have started working out again with weights to improve my posture, strength and tone up a bit.

I need a safe and healthy source of protien...no red meats or fatty foods...

    any suggestions?

    cheers folks.

  2. Whey protein is probably the easiest to digest and the most complete source, as far as the supplements are concerned. If you don't want to go the supplement route try chicken or turkey breast, the white meat is the leanest. Fish is another option, high in protein and full of good omega fatty acids.

Too bad you're not closer to this part of the world, I could get you some whey protein powder for free.

cheers mate, i'll have a look at our local health food shop and see what they have...

  4. whey powder
    eggs
    chicken
    tuna
    salmon
    lean red meat
    pulses
    nuts
    milk
    oats
    tofu

  5. I use a whey powder mixed with milk and it works well. I get almost all the recommended amount of protein in one glass and the rest from the other foods I eat throughout the day.

Now be back later, time for some bacon. 😄

You might try a quality meal replacement power also since may of them have blends of different types of protein in them. Whey protein is a fast acting protein and it's most effective before and after exercise. At other times you want a slower acting protein. Many of the MRPs contain whey and other protein sources such as casin and/or soy.

I have a tough time getting enough protien as well. I have been a vegeterian for a long time. I seem to be getting enough by eating three eggs in the morning for breakfast (hard boiled), and some kind of meat substitute for dinner (Veggie Burgers etc). They always have soy and/or whey protien in them. The eggs though can raise cholesterol though, so I may look into whey protien drinks for the morning instead.

  10. Cheap and efficient...skim milk powder. Sometimes you can get powdered egg white at specialty bake/cooking shops....I think it may be called meringue powder...

The MAX amount of protein an adult can process is around .9g/lb BW....

Where is Ric!? He is a long time veggie....he can tell you how it is...you simply dont need huge amounts of protein.

Cut out all `unclean` foods...and you should be good to go...

    i.e. limiting beer.

    Easy shake
    1 medium banana
    1/3 cup skim milk powder
    1 cup skim milk
    1 tbs chocolate syrup
    1 tbs peanut butter
    ice cubes

18 grams protein and very tasty

    🙁

  12. Here is another place to consider.

I have ordered from trueprotein.comhome.asp before and not only can you mix your own version of protein, but I also found their service to be prompt. They also have premixed versions if you want to simplify the order.

  13. that vegan protein powder is for bodybuilders. unless you're a track sprinter i don't know why you'd want to bulk up.

i'm vegan and get plenty of protein from soy, whole grains, and nuts.
