I've gotten some great use out of my Burley Cub lair-lair-Open ↗ ds.org/Kyler/photos/disk0022/img_1304.jpg/image_viewer but I'm starting to think about trying to make my own very specialized trailer.
One of the things I like most about the Cub is that it has quick-release wheels that attach on only one side. (Other trailers have a tube that goes outside the wheel, making the trailer even wider.) I'd like to put such wheels on the trailer I'm trying to build.
Anyone know of a source for parts? The wheel seems to be standard. The quick release skewer is "normal" on the end with the handle, but on the other end it connects to a solid cylinder that's been cut at an angle so that when the handle is tightened the cylinder is forced "up the ramp" and pushes against into which it's inserted on the trailer. (Did that make sense? I'd take pictures but my trailer is in another state right now.)
I think I could build my own parts, but I wondered if such hubs and receivers are already available elsewhere.

Ah! I should have thought of that. I have a robotic wheelchair but the wheels are much smaller.
Indeed, there are some *cool* wheelchair wheels with quick- release hubs. karmamedical.comwheels.htmlOpen ↗ They should also be up to the task of carrying a heavier load than the Cub's wheels.

Why quick release? The only reason I could see is breakdown for transport. For a flat, the wheel is unenclosed, so you can take the tire off without removing the wheeel.
The recumbent trike community has a lot of experience with single sided hubs. Generally 12mm or 1/2" axles.
