enforcement edicts and not acting off their own back. The article even says
that boycotting the company rather misses the point so they obviously think
that Rackspace were pressured into complying with an unjust law.

The above sort of suggests that you did in fact think that Rackspace
were doing something above and beyond what they had to. When facing the
might of the American legal system, most companies would comply. A
honourable company that didn't would vanish overnight, so not really an
issue.

Yes, withholding money from them will definately encourage them to fight

It's much, much more complex than that.

The US court did not have jurisdiction over London. The Rackspace colo
in London is a wholly-owned subsidiary, but it is nevertheless legally
a separate entity which was not ordered by the US court to do anything
(and nor could it have been). The FBI agents who picked up the servers
are not, by US law, permitted to operate outside the continental United
States. So not only was Rackspace not required to hand over the
servers, it was illegal (under US as well as UK law) for the FBI to
require them to hand them over.

There are more questions about this than answers.
