  1. Hello there.

Well my 2006 Mirage levers and my Tiagra 9 spd (12-25) cassette
arrived. I have a Sram 9 spd chain.

Unfortunately the downtube cable adjusters did not come with the
Mirage levers so I have to notfy the online store about that.

The problem is that my Mirage rear mech did not arrive at the lbs
    either.

They do have a long cage Sora rear mech which looks very nice for the
money. Is the Sora comparable to the Mirage in quality and
perfotmance? I am thinking about getting it until I can get a Mirage
but will not bother with the Mirage if the Sora is as good.

I appreciate your advice on this.

    Cheers frpm Peter

Campag no longer supplies DT cable stops with ERGO..same for a 2007
    Tiagra set I just installed.

Sora RD will not shift 9s or 10s spacing with ERGO..wait for the
    Campag one.

In materials quality, Sora would be on par with Xenon, the group below
Mirage, as both have plastic knuckles. Mirage would be more comparable
    to Tiagra.

    Performance-wise, it's tough to get a poorly-performing derailleur
from anyone these days, but as Peter (QSPC) says, wait for the Campy
one, since your levers won't shift the Shimano rig without a shiftmate.

    Hi there.

Drat! I want to be able to ride this bike. It is unbelievable how hard
it is to get Campy stuff up here. You order some thing wait two weeks
and get told no Canadian supplier has it. If I order it from the US
the nice Canadian gov't still charges me a total of 15% tax on it plus
$5.00 for collecting those taxes. What happened to Free Trade?

Okay I'll wait till it warms up a bit or the winds die down and ride
to a nearby city and see if some one there has one.

On the plus side at least I did not buy a derailleur that would not
work. I thought that if the cable was connected a certain way Shimano
would work with 9 spd Campy. Just my luck that Sora is one that will
    not.

Thanks again and cheers from Peter

    Hi there.

The problem with waiting for a Mirage rear derailleur is that 4 shops
here I had try to get one for me say that no Canadian distributor has
    them.

Can yo tell me why the Sora will not work? is it strictly for 8 spd or
some thing? I thought it was just a matter of anchoring the cable
differently to get the Shimano mech to work with Mirage 2006 Ergos.

What Shimano rear derailleur would work with my 2006 Mirage ergoes?

    Cheers from Peter

If they are 9s ergo they will work with 8s shimano using a shimano der and the
cable gimmick (I did a 'cross season like that) or will work with 9s shimano or
campy using a campy der. Those are your choices.

Any US shop can ship a changer by Global Air Mail to Canada for about
US$10. I sent a chain and freewheel to BC this afternoon in such a
packet. The 'small package' companies treat every parcel as a commercial
customs entry, adding a huge fee plus Canadian duty. The mails are quick
and cheap and your letter carrier may indeed forget to charge the duty.

p.s. Mirage shifters should include a Campagnolo cable set with stops,
    adjusters, ferrules, wires and casing.
