is that it just keeps surprising you. First we have way too

Fortunately our house is pretty okay. There are others in
the city that aren't nearly as fortunate. But our yard
retains water every year (maybe that's where get it from?)
due to being the low spot on the block. It's never been
quite as bad as this though. Actually we personally didn't
even have this much water in yard/basement during the "flood
of the century" back in '97.

The biggest problem at the moment, is the Children-Of-The-Village-Of-The-Damned-
Corn down the lane. I don't know which of the 10 or so very
blonde siblings are involved, but one of their favourite
passtimes every spring seems to be redirecting the drainage
hoses from the pumps. One year into a neighbour's yard. Last
night it was into one of our window wells. Ain't life fun?

Thank you, Lee, for making me laugh this morning 🙂

These children are actually rather sad. They have no
guidance at home, they run around unsupervised. Our back
lane is gravel (why, I don't know. All other ones are paved)
and they're out in the summer in bare feet walking up and
down the lane. I see the mother outside maybe 2 or 3 times a
year, the father is quite senior and seems to be bad
tempered. For some reason the kids have gravitated toward
our house for their activities - good and bad. They like to
play on our front lawn, although I'd rather not have them
there because they have no sense of responsibility. They
picnic on the boulevard in front of our house and leave
their leftover food, trash and rinds on the grass. They'll
open the back gate and wander into our yard and/or garage
for no reason at all. I'm guessing they now range in age
from 5 to 18. We've been in the house for about 10 years
now, they moved in about a year after we
did. It used to be that every summer I'd see the kids out
pushing a stroller with an infant.

Frankly I feel like putting together a listing of the free/low-
cost summer kid's programs and services and dropping it off
at their house. Maybe it would give them something
constructive to do.

These children are actually rather sad. They have no
guidance at home, they run around unsupervised. Our back
lane is gravel (why, I don't know. All other ones are
paved) and they're out in the summer in bare feet walking

bad tempered. For some reason the kids have gravitated
toward our house for their activities - good and bad. They

on the grass. They'll open the back gate and wander into

did. It used to be that every summer I'd see the kids out
pushing a stroller with an infant.

Frankly I feel like putting together a listing of the free/low-
cost summer kid's programs and services and dropping it
off at their house. Maybe it would give them something
constructive to do.
