You know I'm with you Marlene. Spring is here alright. The daffodils are as thick as dandelions will
be in another week. The rain and fair climate have produced such thick green lawns that I saw a

will be in another week. The rain and fair climate have produced such thick green lawns that I saw

Well, last night, we actually had a thunder and lightning storm! IN april. It was because that warm
air was moving in, and boy, what a storm. Incredible lighting that just lit up the sky. It was like
july! And it poured rain. Now, instead of the nice, mild day we were supposed to have, it's going to
rain all day, although still mild, so it doesn't look like a ride for me today!

Speaking of canada geese, just before the storm I went out last night to the store and as I was
walking I heard that sound- and sure enough, it was canada geese. The first ones I've seen so far
but I didn't see them. It was dark and overcast. But I could hear them as they passed overhead. The
storm began just after that.

NO flowers just yet, but we should start seeing crocuses pretty soon. Usually they're the first
flowers we'll see around here, and they are among my favorites.

I know, we think BC is paradise because of the milder winters, but that cold rain can be unpleasant,
I am sure. I know of people who come here to live because they prefer the snow and are sick of the
cold, rainy winters!

Well, the evening fog sure made the ride more interesting. Sometimes I wasn't quite sure where I was
in relation to the edge of the road. (Here's a handy tip: if you see headlights coming straight at
you, it might be time for you to move further right.)

Come to think of it, I often find cycling more enjoyable in the spring and autumn; the weather is
more interesting and varied than in the middle of summer (where it's always hot and damp, no
matter what).

Yeah, no kidding- I remember a few days last summer when it was too hot to ride, period. Except

Out here we say "It's not heaven, but you can see it from here!" Each must decide his/her own, no?
If I could work it out, I'd live in Saanich. The climate is so fine and mild. I always feel good
when I am there. It is also the most bicycle friendly place ever. Just makes me smile. I don't
prefer the snow! I lived in Toronto for several years, and spent a winter north of Nipigon too. The
north country winters are better than T.O. as long as you are dressed properly. Of course the beauty
of the north - night or day - must be experienced to be understood. I did enjoy north country
winters. Now I am older though, and back in my home land, and can ride all winter with only a rare

Actually, I'm in Sherbrooke, and we're now supposed to get between 10 and 15cm today, with a bit
more tomorrow. It'll all be gone in a few days, but today really sucks. Yuck.
