Snow in Aberystwyth

Snow update - it's snowed on and off all morning - but melted or
evaporated in the wind now!

NE of Scotland has had snow since Friday evening. Between the showers
the sun is melting some of it but I'm sure there will be a good build
up of drifting snow on the higher ground.

Was irritating on the Lyon Carn Gorm yesterday.. Loads of snow being
blown int the corries, big patches of firmish stuff (Every 4th s tep
wnet through) and not enough linked for skiing. Very pleasant
underfoot on the ridges though.

Further north looked absolutely plastered. Especially Alder.

Just been up a local hill and could see a very snowy Ben
More/Stobinian.

We were in Glen Clova. Mayar/Dreish were virtually snow-free (though
very icy). but everything farther north had lots of (old, icy) snow.
We did a nice little walk up Tom Buidhe, Tolmount, Fafernie, Carn an
t-Sagart Mor, Carn a' Choire Bhoidheach, Cairn Bannoch and Broad
Cairn, but were trumped by Tom who added Lochnagar to the day and
still caught us up at the summit of Broad Cairn! Enough snow for a
ski tour, but wouldn't have been pleasant due to large areas of water
ice. Met two climbers at the top of Creag an Dubh Loch who pronounced
the snow condition as awful, mostly sugar snow.
Unusually, the south facing corries of Green Hill an Ben Tirran were
plastered with snow, blown in presumably by the northerly breeze.
I've never been there before, what a marvellous place, not what you'd
expect in the Cairngorms at all. Must go back, despite the somewhat
chilly hut :-)
