SNL this week: special guest host

I said:

Some guy who r-e-a-l-l-y likes the color yellow is supposed to be on.
Musical guest: Sheryl Crow.

He was better in "Dodgeball."

The triathlon scene ("Lance Armstrong doesn't know how to run!"😉 was
funny. The opening questions, where they had four of the regular cast
members in Discovery kit (and they exited the stage in a pedestrian
peleton) was cute.

For the rest of his appearances, they didn't use him to great effect
(although that park ranger outfit was nice) and he had trouble
delivering his lines. (Whaddyja do all week during rehearsals??)

One scene had him with "the gardeners" (regular characters, I guess)
and pretending to play piano. That went well, although if the sound is
two hands it doesn't work to lift one (the one with the Lanceband on
the wrist) to rub your nose. The piano riffing ended with a full run on
the white keys, and the real musician played it from bottom to top
(going up the scale). LA did the same gesture, but unless he was seated
at a left-handed piano, his would have gone *down* the scale. (Hey,
there wasn't much bicycle content, so I went with music!)

SC was much better in the skits. Guess she's been doing some sort of
public speaking in real life. You'd think they could do something with
that "are you STRONG enough to be my man" song.

Oh, and I didn't see a ton of Lancebands on the cast, but my TV
reception is pretty bad.

I'm not terribly sorry I stayed up to watch the show, but it's not
going to make the SNL hall of fame. And don't bother buying the DVD.

Even though I didn't really expect much from Lance in the way of acting and
being funny, I was disappointed. I think I could have come up with better
skits...

oh, and with TIVO, you don't need to stay up to watch a show...

I caught the intro, the triathlon skit and the Dratch/Pohler/Crow
skit.

Then a M.A.D.D. ad came on, where the picture of the guy on
a book of Zig-Zag rolling papers talked somebody out of
driving because he was too high. That was too much for me
so I killed the tube and hit the hay.

I have heard of Tivo, but why get it when I turn the thing on a couple
times a year? (The previous one was to watch the tape from when a
reporter interviewed me.) And the only other thing I would have been

I like what they've done with Weekend Update. The Harriet Meiers parody
was great.

Well, you've got a TV that you only use a couple times a year...why not have
a tivo that you only use a couple times of year, so that you don't have to
stay up late.

The show has changed over the years, with the exception of the first
few years, it has always been sporadic. But, it does have some
genuinely funny moments.

I guess what bothers me, is people making blanket statements.
It's really not fair, or accurate.

I have no idea what TiVo costs, and I don't intend to find out. Gee,
why don't I sign up for cable so as to waste more money on something I
don't use? (Nothing worth watching on there, either.) Hey, a couple
times a year I have an adult beverage. Why don't I stock up a liquor
cabinet, while I'm at it?

In case you missed it, the time change was last weekend, so staying up
was not a strain.

Some people take the small things way too seriously.

I've tried SNL several times over the last couple of decades. It has
invariably been a painful experience.
