  1. .... dear Luigi. You are gone to the great Giro d'Italia in the sky.

Dear Luigi, my lovely Italian boy has gone forever. His perfectly formed
Italian geometry gone. Luigi has had a breakdown. He has cracked his
headtube. The gloriously Celeste steed of mine has gone on his last journey.

When the undertaker said to me about what colour I would like Luigi's
replacement to be, I gave him a surprised look and said rhetorically, "Can
there be any other colour?" He knew what I meant, nodding his head
sympathetically and wrote 'celeste' down on a note pad...

So sometime soon I should have Luigi's replacement...

....who is likely to be known as 'Silvio' after the former Italian politician
who is known for, amongst other things, a visit to the cosmetic surgeon to
keep his youthful good looks ;-)

When my new steed arrives, I shall have to take a picture.

In the meantime, I shall weep for the loss of my beloved Luigi

    Cheers, helen s

  2. Sympathies.

Did the head tube crack spontaneously or did you have a prang?

    Hope Silvio serves you well...

I hope my nicked Fondriest suffers from the same problem as your Bainchi.
Preferably as the thief is going downhill at 40 mph ;-) Still, the Madonna
Di Campiglio that replaced it is far better, so that I reckon the toerag did
me a favour in the end. Make sure you get a full Record groupset to lessen
the pain of your loss though - and some Ksyrium SSLs!

No prang. Luigi hasn't has so much as a scratch or been ridden roughly in
any way. Small crack has developed on the headtube, about 1.5cm long.

I hope Silvio turns out to be longer lasting!

    Cheers, helen s

strange advice! You can either lessen the pain with Record, or make all
hurt pale into insignificance with SSL's. Just don't mix these 'cure's'

SSL? Pah! Cheapskate. You want ES.

Mind you, mine are only mixed with Centaur, so I'm a cheapskate too...

Ironicly thougth, Silvios arch rival and Italys new PM is quite a keen
    cyclist. http://brunik.altervista.org/foto/prodi.jpg

no, no, no...Celeste is the colour of the <insert evil deity of choice>, it
sets my teeth on edge not being blue but then not being green, the visual

  12. Sympathy. I just saw this over on a.c.f.

Could you not let him live on by buying a new frame an transferring
the old parts? I know the same heart will not be beating.

Basically the frame & forks are being replaced under warranty.

Vernon stripped Luigi down and we took the frame & forks into Pedal
Revolution on Saturday, and they'll be sent on to Bianchi tomorrow. Biachi
send out new replacement frame & forks.

I assume that you're just changing the frame, in which case the new bike
will still be Luigi. Just like George Washington's axe, with five new
handles and three new heads - it's still George Washington's axe.
