Also contains a variety of other worthwhile hills which don't make the 762m
mark. It's a good companion to the Munros guide.

I tend to look at the book then use the 1:50000 map to choose my route of
ascent / descent.

Not a great fan of the one route format, but I quite like it, unlike
the Munros book which I dislike intensely.

I have both editions now. Shame Butterfield Vol 2 never saw the light
of day.

If the North and Western Hightlands (please next time split them
again) is anything to go by, the new family of district guides are
going to be pretty special. Its a great start, and has Docherties in
as well!

Oh.. Mount Blair is not quite that dramatic :-)

Just back from the Pentlands

Used the book a few times, it's not too bad. I always like the idea of
having a route with car parking suggested (I'm getting a lazy bugger now).

Sometimes there's an alternative route up a Corbett, but mostly it's one
route up. The suggested times seem fairly precise for me.

However, I still get confused over the NON Corbett hills in the book! The
book says Corbets, but there's also Grahams in it!

Your confusion is a symptom of list-itis, or whatever we're calling it these
days.
The book is called 'The Corbetts and Other Scottish Hills', and are a few
hills
described in it which fall well short of Graham height.
They're still well worth visiting of course, that's why they're in there.

I thought I'd read somewhere (Trail ?) that the publishers have now
re-considered "in the light of public interest" and were going to
publish Vol 2.
