I'm really getting into this biking thing. My legs are getting tanned and very strong. The
rubber-like handlebar handgrips keep wanting to slide off. My local bike store recommended that I
"glue" them to the handlebar ends using Aqua Net Extra Super Hold hair spray. Can anybody share
some ideas regarding this problem?
Hair spray is a weak glue that's easy to remove. Before you do that, you might try just peeling the
grips off, washing them really well inside and out with a strong cleaner, and then putting them back
on. Sometimes, stuff just gets under them and makes them slide, and cleaning the surfaces will make
them stay put. If it doesn't work, the hair spray trick is just one of several...and cleaning the
grips won't keep you from using any of the other tricks. (The stronger the glue, the more you'll
cuss if you ever want to swap handlebars, by the way.)
