It's not the fact that you're proud to be white. Why can't you just be
proud to be who you are without excessive explanation of your race?
What are you so scared of? Seeing as that you're white, you really
shouldn't be scared of anything. Us whities pretty much run the show,
we get the best jobs, are offered usually the best chances, and face
a lot less prejudice and bigotry than anyone else in America. If you
don't see that, I feel sorry for you. Once again, you believe
yourself possibly to be part of a persecuted majority, which just
doesn't exist. Also, I never said that I never had a problem with
other people using their ethnicity to describe themselves, I do think
that sometimes it's foolish and overused, but at the same time, it's
also the same hole that we've stuck these other folks in over time (for
example, African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, and
so on). You see, over the years, the white waspy folks such as
yourself have made themselves known as "Americans", so anybody else
has to have a "special designation" if you will, to differentiate
themselves from folks such as you.
The problem that I have when people mention pride in being white stems
from the fact that 99.9% of people that I have run into during my
lifetime who espouse so-called "white pride" also spew forth disdain
and disgust for everyone else who isn't white, and generally, they
tend to me white supremacists as a whole. Take for instance the list
of websites that started this thread. These are all well known white
supremacy sites. Yeah, sure, be proud you're white, but why at the
expense of someone else? Are these others lesser people than you? No,
I'd say they are better.
