I think there was a singing seat on the Forest of Dean sculpture trail once.
The wires suspending it from a tree used to make some kind of horrible
whining sound. Hopefully the budget didn't stretch to stainless and it's

I miss Dean.. First priority for a walk when I next do a family visit
to red/white cow and cider land.

It's more about the holes in the gates and the wind that whistles
through them. The one on the High Cup Nick path could almost
be played like a flute.

I just find that incidental beauty like this has a certain charm.

I've never been looking for them but I can't remember any of the sculptures
I've stumbled across being any good. There's just no comparison between the
crappy wire deer in the FOD and the similar Clydesdale Horse which stands by
the M8 through Glasgow. (Although the deer did look lifelike enough to
temporarily fool me into thinking it was a real one in the dark once). The
bull outside Taurus Crafts on the A48 just outside Lydney on the other hand
is pretty good.

Leaves are starting to turn, fungi are coming out, acorns and beech mast are
down, chestnuts will be a few more weeks, deer will be rutting 2nd half of
October. Best time of year to go over the next few weeks.

There's a whole singing fence at the Kilt Rock car park on Skye. Made me
wonder if it was deliberate!!

Down the M5 south of Bristol, round about Bridgwater junction 23(?) I think,
there is a large wicker "Running Man" sculpture which is absolute [censored].
Close by there is a paper mache camel which someone has put in a field
staring gormlessly over a hedge that has far superior artistic qualities.
The Running Man has been burnt down by art lovers (although the news chose

We were introduced to the orange coloured camel (George, I think he
called it?), by our Cornish coach driver, on the way down to Plymouth of
all places for a 5 day holiday. He kept referring to it for much of
the trip, but we didn't believe it until we saw it.
