  1. Look like Simoni is working to not let Cunego back on
    the descent. Anyone watching this live have a feel for
    what's going on?

    The motorcycle squads interviewed the Saeco DS's, who said
    that Gibo is racing "for second". Cassani and Martinello,
    the technical commentators aren't buying it though. They
    think he's going for it.

    Cassani was thinking of Vicentini and Roche. Apparently
    Cassani was on the team that year...

    Now that's interesting! If Simoni wasn't italian, he might
    be in some physical danger, a la Roche.

    On the descent it was mainly about Simoni, and Popovych
    trying to gain GC places on Gonchar who had led up the big
    climb, but lost touch over the top.

    Popo went for it (and almost lost it a couple of times) on
    the descent with Cunego on his wheel. It was obvious Cunego
    was a far better descender, but he played the team man and
    stayed behind Popo.
