    Is anyone else interested in seeing Simoni get his ass beat down in the mountains during le Tour
    aside from me? This guy, all talk and brass balls before the race, but when the talking was done,
    and the race started, he got shot off the back pretty fast. I would have liked to have seen him give
    Lance et all a hard time in the hills, but it doesn't seem to be happening. Just another case of his
    mouth writing checks he can't cash.

    Also, since Petacchi dropped out once the race got to the mountains; does this mean that Fassa
    doesn't get invited to the Tour next year ala Mario??

    FB is one of the best teams in the world. They will easily finish in the top ten by the end of the
    year and get an automatic invite.

    P.S. Simoni was never going to contend for the GC, He was just going to be a pain in the ass in the
    mountains. Now it doesn't look like anyone will give him notice if he goes off in a break. One
    by one the contenders/pretenders have fallen back - Leipheimer, Botero, Simoni, Aitor Gonzalez
    and now, unfortunately Beloki.

    I heard that the invitation system will change next year so that by march all teams know whether

    Simoni was just trying to posture himself for the TDF. Lance and other riders take comments to
    seriously at times.

    Simoni actually exhibited a LOT of guts in refusing to get dropped on the Galibier and getting back
    on to the bunch on the descent. True, the capability of his legs was behind that of his mouth, but
    if you adopt the general rule of not believing anything that bike riders tell you, you'll be fine...

    Since Lance is from Texas, this is most appropriate:

    Gilberto Simoni is all hat and no cattle. At least he was re his pronouncements regarding the tour
    de france.
