Is anyone else interested in seeing Simoni get his ass beat down in the mountains during le Tour aside from me? This guy, all talk and brass balls before the race, but when the talking was done, and the race started, he got shot off the back pretty fast. I would have liked to have seen him give Lance et all a hard time in the hills, but it doesn't seem to be happening. Just another case of his mouth writing checks he can't cash.
Also, since Petacchi dropped out once the race got to the mountains; does this mean that Fassa doesn't get invited to the Tour next year ala Mario??

simoni sucks. lance would kill him in Italy also. its the only way he can get publicity after the giro is over, by running his mouth......if anyone would race the giro these days he wouldn't win that either.

Remember that Pantani was the only one to do it since they changed the calendar, IIRC. Also, "historically speaking", riders like Armstrong and Indurain, who basically only race(d) one race a year were less common.

Remember that Pantani was the only one to do it since they changed the calendar, IIRC.
They pushed the Vulta back to September, but didn't touch the Giro too much AFAIK.

Indurain raced the Giro at least 3 times while winning the tour, in 92,93 and 94.

1998 doesn't exactly qualify as a decade ago in my book, but that's not a very good sign as to your ability to understand anything about anything.
