    Dumbass -

I hope they continue their feud this year at the Tour.

That was one of the most blatant examples of intimidation ever.
Armstrong was being a [censored], but it was cool because everything he did
was legit - he didn't break any rules (unlike the more typical
intimidation tactic of riding someone off the road).

Bridge up to the break, the pack chases, tell the break that you'll
drop off if Simeoni does too. The rest of the break yells at Simeoni to
    drop off.

    Hilarious!

Anyone else ever see anything like that in a race? Not only have I
never seen it, I've never even heard of something that except in this
    instance.

    thanks,

    K. Gringioni.

Simeoni is a crybaby for not leaving it in the street where it belonged.
Didn't he ever read Puddin'head Wilson?

You'd think at the VERY least they would all be trying to avoid
pissing Armstrong off at the moment. The guy runs on anger.

It's just adding fuel to the fire.

I picture Jan and Basso walking around telling everyone to just SHUT
    THE FLIP UP!

If the break members had any balls, they would have told Armstrong to
grow up and get back in the bunch.

Jan has already said that if Armstrong has a retirement party, he hope
    Armstrong will invite him.

Really?! There was money on the line. You see folks dealing with
difficult customers in order to make a living every day. How was that
    any different?

    No different. Neither has balls.

I bet Jan is a lot of fun at parties. I'd invite him.

But not Mullin. Any motor oil needs to be fresh, not used.

And I'm thinking Pom-pom can kill any party he shows up to.

Like he would have listened to them. Ha.

Besides, Armstrong has power. They don't want to get on his bad side,
because in the TdF, he can always have his very strong team chase the
    break down.

Here's an ingenious strategy for the break members. [censored] of Armstrong so
his team chases every break that contains u,v,w,x, and y team.
Continually send guys up the road. Armstrong's team pops a cork playing
[censored] chasing games. Armstrong's teammates cut his other nut off.

    Wayne

  11. Yes... you often get that kind of [censored] in much hated crit season.
There's rarely a crit without a local mafia that includes most of the
money riders... but when some guy they didn't know rides up there.. you
get that kind of [censored]. Everyone knows that if they don't behave it
will only get physical. More to the point, it's the same riders in
every peleton... you don't behave once, you never get to do anything in
    a race ever again.

  12. Yes... I have. I'm not talking about a N.American 1 hour crit. In
fact if you've done any "crit", you'll know the mafias and therefore
    MUST have seen similar tactics.

Motorpacing 5 meters behind a car? I don't think so.. that was the
point! The other guy obviously thought you had time to look at the
    brake lights...

    Newbie? To this newsgroup yes.

    On that basis then--OK!

Where a guy (rider #1) bridged up to a break, "persuaded" one of the
break members (rider #2) to *voluntarily* drop out because the field
will chase any break w/ rider #1 and rider #2 can't handle the peer
pressure from the rest of the break members, and then both rider #1 and
rider #2 drop back to the field while the break continues?

Please be specific, when have you seen that? My ears are open.

    thanks,

    K. Gringioni.

Simeoni's team was not even invited to the Giro d'Italia this year, much
less the Grand Boucle. That would be the Naturino-Sapore di Mare team,
which had Francesco Casagrande until he found out he wouldn't be going
to the Giro. He decided to retire prematurely.

You must be hard of hearing. That EXACT situation may not arise
every-day... but riders forcing others to drop from a break or forcing
them to sit in and not take any PSs or GPMs is common. I was making
the point to anyone interested that this kind of thing happens in the
peleton. It's never published/shown and rarely talked about... but
neither are a lot of things.
If you want to play around repeating yourself and if you are not
interested in what really goes on in cycling.. that's fine. You are
obviously a world expert with vast amounts of experience.

  20. True, and a good point. I think the closest they got was the Route du
Sud.. hey, at least it's in FRA and at least it hits the Pyrenees.
