Simano shoe sizing

Yup, and the bloke at the LBS said the same thing, so
it's not just us. I normally wear a 45, but I bought the
M038 in a 46.

I find their shoes very narrow (relative to my feet, at
least), to the extent that anything wide enough for me is
oversize in terms of the number but also too long. My SD-60
sandals, where there isn't an upper to constrict me, are my
usual size 43, I just can't use their shoes as they're the
wrong shape for me.

My usual shoe size is 43. I've got size 45 Shimano cycling
shoes and although very long, they're still a bit tight
widthways after an hour or too. I'm seriously thinking of
cutting the elastic strip that goes over the instep (but
under the velcro fastened flap).

I think the problem is that theory says that for efficient
power transfer the shoe should not move!

My lace up trainer style Cannondales are wider but at six
years old are disintegrating (and I can't find
replacements).

I would dearly like to find a casual looking cycling shoe
that's also wide.

So do I. But I also had to take one size larger than usual
to avoid my toes touching the front.

Shimano shoes are indeed narrow for they size.

Is this groups full of mutants, I wonder. Size 43, size
43? I take size 10 shoes but had to move up to size 11
for my Shimano M036s (I think that's the model number.
They're on my feet at the moment so I cannot actually see
the size info.)

I suppose the shoes could always double as flippers.

Shoes: size 44 EEW Teva's: UK size 10 Shimano sandals: size
47-48. Rather difficult to find overshoes. Still a better
fit than any cycling shoe I've ever tried.

But the sizes appropriate to women are also narrow compared
to other womens' shoes. I take a size 38 in shoes and
usually only 37 in sandals, but had to get 39-40 in the
Shimano sandals to get a comfy fit. My feet look rather lost
in them as there's a lot of sandal in front of the toes and
behind the heels.
