simac ice cream glitch

Soon as it's under load it stalls, sounds like it needs a new motor.

thanks for responding. the motor itself doesn't "stall". it just
doesn't have enough oomph to turn the paddle/blade beyond the
soupy/soft consistency. when i "help" by pushing the paddle with my
spatula, i can keep it turning a while longer.

A while longer, and then it stalls. Part of the motor windings are
probably shorted, insulation is damaged from overheating, from
excessive use... the last owner probably let it run too long after the
ice cream set. Locate an authorized simac service center and see about
a new drive motor. It's too expensive a machine to just toss it over a
motor... you may even be able to order a motor and install it yourself.
May even be just a worn/stretched belt that's slipping... check it
out... probably needs a tune-up, check that it's coolant level is up to
snuff, or it can need to run too long.

thanks sheldon. i did as you suggested. the service people tuned it and
replaced the gears. it is running smoothly now
