The Sigma wireless pickup I had stopped working in a few months, and the
warranty replacement went the same way...haven't had any problem with the
wired units.

It has only just learned about rain... But no, no problems. I did
have a problem with one version which after about 6 months faded to
unreadability even when given a new battery. Was replaced by
PhantomCycles. The replacement is fine and I've never had that
problem with other Sigmas, been using them on the motorcycle in all
weathers for 4 years.

the front wheel. When standing next to some cars at traffic lights my
stationary speed shot up to over 100 km/h.

they're wired, not wireless), they do drop out in heavy rain, but
they're less prone to it than cateyes were when I used them.

I haven't seen many come back as warranty jobs, but we're not selling
them anymore - we're doing VDO (via Apollo) - so my exposure to them
is less than it might otherwise be.

1606 which just adds a backlight (which I want to put in as part of my
next PBK order, but they don't have the cadence kit). Only once or
twice has the 1600 gotten confused by rain -- cadence and speeds up
near 400 and 200km/h respectively, IIRC (down the 1:20). Once I
stopped, I took it off, wiped the contacts, put it back on, and it was
fine.

I've got the wired version and no trouble with it, rain or otherwise,
but it's only been going for 6 months. The only reason I would see for
going unwired is on a MTB where scrub could be an issue.

On the road there is just about no advantage in wireless speed except
for aesthetics - it's unreliable, uses more batteries in both sensor
and computer and is actually usually heavier than a cable.

I've got a Blackburn Delphi with wireless speed and wired cadence
(would have preferred the other way round). It's generally reliable
and I've never had interference with the speed, but it has been known
to drop out on crucial descents. For reliability, longevity and
simplicity, I'd go old skool fully wired.

Nope, but I do have a PBK order to put in, and didn't want to bother paying
two different sets of freight. Damn it, cheapass Tuesday was yesterday.
