Google for Anquet, Memory Map and Tracklogs. . .. .

The cheap way?

Use Multimap, save the image as a .bmp file and draw on it using MS
Paint (etc)

multiple layers. I'm sure a free one can be downloaded - maybe Paint Shop

Tech note: Don't put BMP files on the web or send in email. Use GIF
format for diagrams and JPEG format for pictures. (Because BMPs are
huge and GIFs/JPEGs are efficient.)

Probably nicer to use a draw package with layers;
assuming the map is a raster, you can draw your route as
a path (line segment, or splines) and then export
the whole thing "flattened".

Much nice to edit (especially update) than a raster, even
a raster with layers.

Try google maps.

Here's one I have in progress at the moment showing the London to Brighton
Bike Ride route.

Lots more to go on there yet and need jazzing up but you get the picture.
If any of you have GPS data (ideally in XML format) of any other major
rides, or rides you do please contact me and I'll add them when I get a
